White Hydrangea

Here is a flower head of the white hydrangea. It's very hard to take photos of white flowers in the garden.

Hydrangeas are my favourite garden toughies

This hydrangea has a semi-shaded position in the Apple Tree garden, underneath the old apricot tree. I also grow a blue lacecap which has variegated leaves right next to the white variety - the pairing is not the best in terms of colour and texture contrast.

I love the big Nicotiana Sylvestris which turns up in all my garden beds, both invited and uninvited. Since this photograph below was taken the nicotiana has been pulled out - and the hydrangeas have grown a lot bigger.

In the early evening the nicotianas give off their beautiful fragrance.

One of my future sensible-gardening-plans is to separate the two varieties. I haven't quite got around to it yet.
