May - shift the red and yellow aquliegias from the Driveway Border. The pink Heritage roses go in here. Weed, mulch, and trim edges. Put Round-Up underneath the Wattle trees. Tie up the New Dawn roses...

Get seeds from yellow aquilegia, blue aquilegia... And keep happy.

Some roses I'd like to get: The Pilgrim (tall, yellow-cream), Fantin Latour (pretty), Penelope (hybrid musk), Queen Elizabeth (tall and pink), French Lace (floribunda, medium, ivory).

    Things to Do
  • Pot up Renga Renga for Wattle Woods.
  • Trim Viburmums.
  • Measure up for the new rose arches.
  • Dig the Pond Garden.
  • Shift Bantry Bay into Stables Garden.
 Yellow and pinky red.

Gardener's Comment in 2009

Ha! Keep happy, I told myself... Gardeners should never not be happy. And I did get all those roses in that list, though I suspect that Fantin Latour is no longer with me. And I ditched Queen Elizabeth last winter after many unsatisfactory years - oops, sorry about that...

And huge apologies about the reference to using 'Round-Up' - I can't believe I said that. I certainly didn't follow through. No chemical gardening has ever really been allowed (unless I cheat and direct Non-Gardening Partner around with the back-pack).

And those yellow and red aquilegias? I no longer grow them...
