Brown dog visitors!

 With one brown dog.
House and Garden Visitors

No gardening this weekend - I have been a hostess! Have had lovely house visitors here for a sleep-over, including a happy toddler and two brown dogs. Lots of fun, lots of playing, lots of barking. And not a cat in sight - wonder why?

Sunday 23rd November

When the visitors and dogs left I went out to clean up annual grasses from the raised area at the top of the Allotment Garden. Weeded for nearly three hours, unpleasant work. My dog fence (to stop Pebbles going next-door) is in poor repair, couldn't quite summon up the energy to fix it. Threw my mess all over the driveway. No energy left to clean it up.

Monday 24th November

Both the Fred cats are now officially 'back' after having their house and garden taken over by the visiting brown dogs. Four dogs in one small kitchen is interesting, especially when old Escher suddenly flops down sideways on the tiles. Oops - is he still breathing? I do love those brown dogs, but the quartet of dog-singing (AKA barking) in the house is pretty intense.

It's drizzling, so I am inside doing web-work : processing photographs and creating some new rose pages. Check out The Active, and the David Austin roses Claire Rose and Jacquenetta. Lots of fun keeping up to date.

Tuesday 25th November

Today I went into the garden and cleaned up my mess. Started the bonfire before the wind picked up. Lots to do. Gathered up extra dry material from the fence-line as well as stuff from my Alkanet and gum leaves piles. Also made some new mess, weeding around the edge of the garden in the back lawn. Everything went on the bonfire (smoky, smoky). The garden looks pretty.

After coffee I went back and dragged the last of the pruned Camellia branches over. Produced more barrow loads of mess, again including a lot more Alkanet. Cleared the little path through the Dogpath Garden to the water race. Weeded alongside Middle path. Burnt the lot.

Funny how it's much more fun to make mess than to clean it up! - Moosey words of wisdom.

Then cleaned myself up, ready to go to my Chamber Music rehearsal : my reward for being a good gardener. Funny how it's much more fun to make mess than to clean it up!
