Flower Carpet Roses

The driveway border is home to several bright pink flower carpet roses, seen here flowering in mid-summer.

These were the first so-called Flower Carpet roses to be sold in New Zealand, and they caused a sensation. They were marketed as the perfect groundcover - which anyone who has tried to weed underneath them knows just isn't true!

I've always rated the Flower Carpet roses - their bright colour is great in my garden, and their flowering time is later then my other roses. So they nicely fill a slot in the summer rose flowering calendar.
