I don't seem to write very much about the year 1999, but there are huge changes on the property, with many trees being felled. The old gorse hedge over the water race is cut down and burnt, and the long thin paddock by the water becomes available for development.

Sat 4th Sep 1999- The months of waiting are finally over - the gums over the water race are down. Gorse rubbish is cleared and burnt. Digging starts on the Hen House Borders...

Fri 1st Oct 1999- It's Spring. Rugosas get planted, daffodils are admired, and a big spender is let loose with a credit card on the October local nursery sales...

Sat 6th Nov 1999- Roses, roses, and more roses. New Dawn is struck down by rust. New Zealand loses the rugby world cup. Paths get stoned...

Wed 1st Dec 1999- Disaster strikes the variegated cordyline. Paths are finished. The garden looks out towards the new millennium, as irrigation is installed over the water race. We WIN the cricket!
