This grass gives beautiful texture to a mixed planting.
Feathery Anemanthele Grass

This feathery cascading grass is very light and weightless, with reddish tones from mid-summer on. I've always called it either Mountain or Fountain Grass, and have several specimens in different borders. Hmm... It's more commonly known as Gossamer grass.

Seedlings!

It is modestly generous with its seedlings, too, which impresses me. I often scoop them up and have all sizes growing on in small pots behind the glass-house.

Anemanthele Lessoniana

Sadly I take the New Zealand native plants and shrubs so much for granted that I often don't learn their correct names. I'm sure that it's called Anemanthele lessoniana.

Anemanthele Grass

In late summer the seedheads fluff out, and I clean up the grass by gently pulling them off. It's a strange feeling, like combing hair with your fingers and having it all fall out. I love this grass.
