Eucomis

These are commonly called Pineapple Lilies, and although they grow from bulbs I treat mine as if they were proper perennials in a herbaceous border. I grow them in pots and in clumps in the garden.

They are substantial plants, with intricate starry flower-heads, and lately different coloured varieties are becoming available. These plants could even become trendy!
