Outdoor Garden Light

The lamp which sits in the corner of the garden by the car lay-by is the only outdoor light in the garden. It's never cleaned because of its resident spiders.

This outdoor garden light is covered in spider webs. I refuse to clean it. The spiders are happy, I am happy

Since this photo was taken the resident conifer has almost grown taller than the lamp. You can see the difference in the picture alongside.

Conifer Gardening

I am not a good conifer gardener - I rarely buy any, and tend to want to remove the existing ones. This gentle lime yellow conifer, though, has become a favourite.

In winter it's clearly seen from the house creating its own little bit of garden sunshine. In late spring the yellow and red rose flowers on the pergola, and the conifer forms the perfect backdrop to show off these rose colours.

Camellia Colour

The conifer also has its own deep cherry camellia neighbour, and later a deep cherry red rose (you can see this rose flowering in the photograph). I look forward every year to these colour combinations.

In defence of spiders, I'd like to say that they do a great job around the outside of the house - and I try to live in harmony with them.

Oops. Well and truly hidden in the conifer.
