In the Dog-Path Garden there's space near the Copper Beech tree for a small rose garden, and I've filled the spaces between the standard roses with perennials. Favourites are a green leafed Santolina and a red flowering Monarda. ![]() Red Monarda The plan is that these perennials, all fifty cent specials from an Easter nursery sale, will clump out and spread, covering the soil and looking interesting. And hopefully there'll be no room left for any weeds to grow. Red, Blue and Yellow! The red Monarda blooms when the standard roses (Rhapsody in Blue and yellow Friesia) are at rest between flowering sessions. So I've managed not to have a kaleidoscope of primary colours all at once. Phew! ![]() Santolina Flowers Ground-wise there's stiff competition from a little Euphorbia, which was given to me a few years ago by a so-called gardening friend. Hmm... It's rather an invasive little thing, and I'm sure she didn't tell me that! I'm not going to honour it with a photograph...
