This month's features

1. Ivey Hall Rose - AKA Golden Smiles

Surely nobody gets bored with yellow roses? Here's a sunny golden rose which deserves to be known and grown more - if you can source it...

2. Dry Acheron Stream Track

Ignore the word 'dry' - this latest wet-boots walking trip takes me up a gentle river valley in the Upper Rakaia high country.

3. My Mad May Roses

It's so close to mid-winter - but some of my roses just haven't taken the hint.

4. Koru Brick Courtyard

My latest project, to use recycled bricks as a garden feature, is finished, and I've presented it officially on its own page. In the Garden Design section, no less!

5. Grasshopper Gardening

In the Garden Glossary pages I attempt to define a term I use quite a lot. I don't think the accompanying picture is a grasshopper, though... Oops.

Regulars

6. Plant of the Month : Blackberry Nip Rose

The closer I get to real winter the more I appreciate my roses, still bravely blooming. Here's a smudgy purple beauty.

7. Animal of the Month : In Memory - Sifter the Cat

Finally after all these years Sifter the tabby is properly remembered in my garden. Now he has his very own memorial Camellia.

8. Garden Quote : Stretching the Boundaries

If you are a gardener then this quote is probably best taken figuratively...

9. Garden Gallery : 2005 Chelsea Pensioners Garden

These pictures, taken way back in 2005 at the Chelsea Flower Show (London) by the Moosey webmaster, are possibly the most popular images on the whole of the site. You'll see an inspiring montage of plants, structures, and ideas.

10. Forum Focus : Go Gordon!

Once again Gordon's spring photographs are enjoyed by us all. You'll enjoy peeping at his wonderful treasures...

11. Gardening Advice : Using Twitter

I've only been tweeting for five or six weeks now. Is this long enough to have an opinion, or give advice, I wonder? Hee hee...

12. Searching for Moosey : hebe flowers

hebe flowers
Even as I write, in winter, there are several different Hebes flowering in my garden. Pink, blue, purple... Enjoy!

13. Coming up this month : A Tree-House Overlooking the Water Race

Hopefully, Non-Gardening Partner willing, I'll see my latest garden project up and running. It's a tree-house overlooking the water race. Another exciting back-to-childhood dream of mine may be realised...

Cheers,
