Veined Viburnum

There is a large Viburnum Rhytidophyllum just through the grass gap, on the far side of the Island Bed. It has creamy white flowers in spring, and the leaves are distinctly corrugated.

This viburnum is a fast growing shrub.

The flower heads of the Viburnum Rhytidophyllum are just starting to open in the photograph below. The patterns of corrugated veins can be better appreciated close-up. I had to check with my shrubs and trees book to get the name right - impressive!

 A very textural tree-shrub.

This is an original - planted here long before I came.
