Early days 2 - The Golden Hop
Several large tree stumps were left in Middle Border, and my plan was to disguise the biggest with suitable plantings. I selected and planded a Golden Hop, which behaved well for the first year.
The Disgraceful Golden Hop
The Golden Hop looked cute in its early photographs, but it quickly showed its monster intentions. I thought I would love it for ever. Not so. I honestly had plans to erect a towering pole in here so it could reach for the sky - instead of reaching for its poor plant neighbours. Non-Gardening Partner just ignored me. Fair enough!

By 2004 the Golden Hop was the target of a clearing and removing programme. Would this clever plant be able to fight back? Hmm... not in my garden. The Golden Hop and I separated amicably and went our separate ways.
