Jacquenetta Rose

I finally have a firm rose ID for the rather large single pale apricot rose growing in the Wattle Woods : Jacquenetta. For some years she struggled in the shade. But last year three of the large Wattle trees came down (their decision, not mine). Let there be light! And there is - much more light, much more suitable for roses to flourish. Jacquenetta has been able to throw out her long arching canes and is now flowering beautifully.

Roses ABC has an excellent and detailed description of her characteristics, which I've linked to. I'm so grateful that she has survived fifteen plus years of shady neglect in my garden. What a rose!

Jacquenetta is an early David Austin rose, named after country girl Jacquenetta in Shakespeare's comedy Love's Labour's Lost. She's a perfect country rose.
