Wobbly Garden Bench
A wobbly garden bench used to sit in the Stumpy Garden facing away from the water race. It was set at the perfect angle for enjoying the mass plantings of nearby spring daffodils. But did anyone ever sit on it, apart from the cats? Hmm...

The bench was surrounded by the spreading ground cover Iris confusa, in flower in these photographs. The wobbliness of the bench only really affected gardening people - gardening cats like Fluff-Fluff were much more well-balanced!
Wobbly Garden Bench - Spring 2010
So maybe I didn't sit on it, but it was very handy for putting my garden tools on, so they didn't get lost or (shock, horror) left in the grass for the lawn mower to run over. The bench wobbled its last in 2025, when the rot finally set in, and is now quietly composting underneath the Leyland hedge. The lovely cat in the picture is also dearly departed.
