The Apple Tree

The Apple Tree border was dug around a row of original orchard fruit trees. The apple tree still survives, though my pruning scheme is as haphazard as my harvesting.

 Such pretty colours!
Apple Blossom in the Rain

Of course the apple tree provides much more than the garden's name. There's beautiful blossom in spring, and a frame for the creamy white hybrid musk rose Moonlight to scramble through in early summer.

With lots and lots of spots!
Heirloom Apples

Then the fruit - real heirloom apples for me and the birds to enjoy in autumn. There's nothing nicer than being hungry in the garden and grabbing some fruit off the branch, knowing it's spray-free.
