March...

March is a beautiful time of the year to be in the garden. Not too hot, not too cold, the mellow golden colours of autumn starting to appear everywhere. Beautiful light, too.

Today I am housebound (it's been raining steadily since last night). Have walked around with the dogs and picked some droopy dahlias for the house. Really felt like continuing my gardening efforts in the Hump Garden. Oh well.

Friday 27th March

Had a slightly fitful sleep (woken by an 'interesting' thump in the night). Have time before my music rehearsal to go check the source of the thump out. A tree, or a large branch down? Where? Rain and wind stormed around the garden throughout the night.

 Oak leaves turning colour.

I'm back - can't find anything that's come down. Found rather a lot of gum tree bark, though, strewn around the back of the pond and totally spoiling the look of my garden. Thank you, wind.

Free from the veggie stall down the road - not planted yet, sitting in water.

Storming Autumn...

Autumn has also stormed into the Pond Paddock - the Oak trees are turning orange, and there are fallen leaves all over the ground. Wow! Autumn usually sneaks in here, plenty of time to document the changes of colour. Not this year. Must keep busy with my camera.

Much later...

After chamber music (we are playing a cute Haydn trio) and a trip to Winnie's therapy vet I was in the mood for a little light weeding. I randomly chose the Allotment Garden.

Silly choice. Oh joy! Found forests of alarming knee-high weeds that I've not seen before - where did their seeds blow in from? Next door, I reckon. Humph! Pulled most of the major patches out. So rude!

So March is also a beautiful time for interlopers, opportunists, and squatters to invade my garden. Humph again.
