Bright Dahlias
Friday morning - woke up with a fuzzy head, hadn't sleep well (had a very talkative knee). Walked over to the house through my lovely green garden. Felt instantly better, so did my knee. So easy!
Wellness benefits...
Scholars have written research papers on the wellness benefits of being in a garden. To me (who sleeps in her garden, so to speak) it's perfectly obvious. I love my garden. It completes me and always makes me feel better.
Felt even better after greeting my cats and dogs in the house, warming up with a hot cup of tea, and doing some deep reflection about yesterday's efforts.
I did really well...
I think I did really well sorting out my little stone wall (which I can see from the house). And what I think matters the most. Just need to remember to finish digging out that pesky periwinkle. Ha ha...
I am loving my new dahlias, Poodle Skirt, which are all flowering in the garden by the back lawn. An amazing colour and form. What a hoot they are! Only the second time I've ever bought in dahlias with a label. The first one was a spiky yellow. It's lost.

Poodle Skirt Dahlias
Lots of other dahlias are still blooming. Today I went weeding in the Hump Garden, along the main path. Spent three hours dead-heading dahlias and preparing the garden for the welcome addition of compost and horse manure. I will pick some up from down the road.

What a gorgeous feeling, sitting in such a colourful place and doing some worthwhile gardening. Yeay!
