The stone path is fixed...

New stone path
Something I've been meaning to do for ages - fix the stone path which leads from the back door steps up to the washing line and the back lawn. Shrubs (particularly Daphne) have grown over the existing path, blocking it and making walking on it very difficult. And wobbly!
Six hours gardening...
I did six hours of great gardening work - wow! Decided not to prune any of the shrubs - the Daphne is just gorgeous in spring. Cleared the ground - had to dig out lots of annoying Euphorbias, common mint that was spreading, purple Geraniums, seedling plum trees, and a coarse green Carex. There wasn't much to rescue for replanting - just some Iberia and Ajuga, which are now sitting in water. Then I shifted all the stones out into the open - had to find a few more to make the path a bit wider. Just placed them on the surface for now - still have to dig them in properly.
Then I wandered over to the fence-line to get a load of dry rubbish for the bonfire and noticed something else - a waterside Phormium which was getting too big and bulky, with lots of dead leaves. Stopped then and there and sliced it down. Went back to the Pergola, chopped some more Clematis out, also some dead rose wood. Then I burnt my rubbish.

Another Phormium Trimmed
Now I am wearing my new apres-gardening knitted sweater - it's from the Op Shop, a mix of alpaca and wool, very blue and very cosy. I think the alpaca is a winner! Non-Gardening Partner has lit the wood burner, and is going out for a early evening swim. So I can stay home on my own, watch another episode of Lewis, and not feel silly. Old-school detective dramas are best enjoyed in private, hee hee.
