Garden Journal 1997

In December 1997 the first of the Moosey Gardening Journals was written. Words were scribbled in the back of an old school exercise book. It was fun writing down tasks accomplished, and bossy lists of things to do.

I realised that the Moosey garden would keep on expanding - it was beginning to have a history. Garden areas were being named, and I wanted to keep a record of planting schemes and general gardening progress. I was also learning more and more about the weather, the soil and the wind - and thought that this information should be recorded for the future.

Most of all I was loving every minute spent outside. How lucky I was to have the chance to develop a country garden!

My December sentences are a small but significant beginning to the story of my Moosey gardening life...

My friend Astrid has inspired me - I have decided to start a proper garden diary. In it I will write of my garden experiences, my successes, my failures... day by day even... starting with today.

December continues - I'm busy improving the soil, watering, and I'm bursting with garden ideas. Most involve buying new plants, or shifting existing plants around - not a good idea in the hot summer sun!

A cotinus, a miscanthus and a variegated cordyline are welcomed into the Moosey Garden. My Christmas garden presents (some rose archways) are installed. Merry Christmas.
