Phormiums
There are Phormiums (New Zealand flaxes) growing in the Stumpy Garden - of course there are! Large species of Phormium tenax fill up the garden at the end by the driveway, and along the edge of the water race. These are the usual slightly drab olive green colour. Other lighter green, fountain shaped, are squashed into the border between the rhododendrons.
A Beautiful Phormium
But one absolutely beautiful dark red Phormium has pride of place on the border's edge by the lawn. It's upright, and simply stunning.
