Blame the Leopard Plant!

I blame the spotty leafed plant! I walk past the patch of Leopard plants each morning and night on my way to and from the cottage. I love to see them well watered, happy and thriving.

 Also known as Farfugium.
Spotty Ligularia Leaves

Early this morning - yes! Had to take a photograph of the spottiest leaves. Beautiful. Did so. Said thank you by putting the little watering hose on them. Then saw the Wattle Woods Renga Renga flowering in the distance. Ooh! Must take a photograph. Wandered over the Pond Paddock and started up the path.

A scruffy plant but well worth growing.
Renga Renga Flowering

Oh no! Mess and chaos. Old Alkanet stems sprawling everywhere. Path blocked, gardens overgrown, tree branches down. No sense of order (even for naturally messy me).

Wattle Woods Path

Should have cleaned up weeks ago...

It seems that every day I wander innocently over to some new garden area. Everything starts well - the entrances are usually clear (thanks to my cosmetic edge gardening).

After a dozen paces I'm engulfed by stuff I should have cleaned up weeks ago. But weeks ago I was cleaning up stuff that should have been cleaned up even more weeks ago. You get the picture.

Later...

So I went swimming, met my friends for morning coffee, then went into the Wattle Woods. I took my hand digger, the scissors (to cut up annual forget-me-nots), the rake and and the wheelbarrow. Three hours later, I surfaced for late lunch and Kombucha. Five heavy barrow loads of mainly Alkanet removed. Sore hands and fingers. But definitely made progress. Much of the path is clear. I also trimmed the Camellias a little, to make them more shapely.

Shouldn't say this, but perhaps - just perhaps - I can finish the Wattle Woods paths etc. before the end of the gardening day. Please give me the energy and stamina to do this. And then I can have a shower, wash my hair, and feel really proud.

Alkanet :
Alkanet is a herb, a perennial forget-me-not. A nuisance for a gardener. A life-giver for a bee.

Aha! After two more hours I got as far as the corner of the glass-house. OK, so I'm not quite finished, but am very close. I've pulled out and dumped three more barrow-loads of mess. My hands and fingers are twice as achy as before. MY hair is clean, and I am very, very proud of myself. And that's the best feeling.
