Easter 2026

Good morning, Easter Monday, looking a bit gloomy but comfortable - suitable for a big gardening day. I didn't do any Easter singing this year (am not sure whether or not I missed it). Much more time for Easter gardening (and saving on petrol, but I don't need to elaborate on that).

 Amazing colours!

Yesterday I spread five more bags of horse manure, and the Shrubbery soil is almost all rejuvenated. Would Non-Gardening Partner like to pick me up three bags of compost to finish it off? Before or after he does some chain-sawing for me?

Possibly Arctotis. In a pot by the dog kennels.

A list for NGP...

I have written him a chain-sawing list on paper, naming five specific locations, number six being the rather loose 'Any other dead tree branches.'

I will not write a list for myself. I am going with the flow. My garden and I can both be mellow.

Dusk...

My day was stagnant, rather no-flow, but well worth it. I finished the front Shrubbery area as best I could - weeding, spreading organic matter, thinking about new shrubs to plant in here.

Mid-afternoon I took a wee trip around the garden with my camera (ooh, the roses are beautiful), then spent two hours bonfiring my mess, collecting extra loads from here there and everywhere. Brilliant.

NGP did nearly all of the items on his chain-sawing list (he chose not to bring down the dead red Maple), then he collected three bags of compost for me.

 A beautiful green colour.

Tuesday 7th April

Yippee! Made a preliminary visit to the Home and Garden store this morning (I have a voucher to spent). I made a mental list of possible plant purchases, ended up just buying an bag of daffodil bulbs and a fancy doormat for Pond Cottage's verandah. Hope Speckles my stray cat will like it and sit on it.

Later...

Went back to the store and spent my voucher on some striped Phormiums (Rainbow Chief, Rainbow Queen, and Yellow Wave), some striped Euphorbias (Ascot Rainbow), two Hebes (George and Margaret), two Lavenders (The Princess), potting mix and bulb mix. Yeay!
