Guilty?

Had the day off the garden yesterday. This morning I felt a bit guilty, so decided I needed to work extra hard. Really silly - am allowed a day of rest (as long as I water the pots of tomatoes). So there.

I think they might flower a bit later than the blue variety.
White Agapanthus

All morning I worked hard in the Welcome Garden. I sliced through sprouting Agapanthus roots and then planting them in gaps. Weeded out lots of undesirables and picked up loads of dead branches. The mass Agapanthus plantings I put in six months ago are flowering - all of them are white, looking beautiful in the woodland area.

My new one is the top left.
Three rusty roosters!

New rusty roosters!

This afternoon I went over to Henworld to do some more weeding and raking. Exciting news - I have acquired some new rusty roosters. Popped them into the Agapanthus next to the others. Nice!

Raked four loads of mess up from the paths around Henworld and burnt everything. Then collected my garden tools, planted another new 'Poodle Skirts' dahlia, and put the Cream Delight Phormium divisions in a big garden pot.

A new adventure...

Now for a shower, clean clothes, something yummy to eat, and a new adventure - am Youtube travelling with Canadian canoeist Justin Barbour across the Labrador wilderness. I find the watery landscapes and routes quite incredible, especially the way that all the lakes, ponds, rivers, and creeks join up.

Portaging with green plastic wheelbarrows... Hmm...
Wheelbarrows and Bonfire

Watching the canoe portages is very grounding for a gardener who's only plodded around her garden for five hours with a wheelbarrow but thinks she's worked really, really hard, and is really, really tired.

Tuesday 10th February

First thing this morning I weeded and produced a barrow load of mess from the patio garden. I trimmed the Anemanthele grasses so nobody (e.g. me) trips up on them while passing by. The lemon Calendulas have finished flowering - I collected seeds and refilled their pots with pink Pelargonium cuttings.

Shifted into the garden by the pergola.
David Thompson Rugosa Roses

Am off now to 'do' the 'Dancing Run'. One small thing - I've cleaned myself up and got ready to leave one hour too early. This is not necessarily a sign of anything (e.g. the brain) aging. Nor is it numerical confusion.

Later...

Got home, tipped the patio garden barrow load onto the bonfire. Then I collected more loads from the Henhouse Gardens. Youtube relaxing after my evening meal - aha! The big winter freeze came early (in Labrador) and my adventurer had to ditch his canoe and call for the helicopter.

The big summer simmer...

Meanwhile the big summer simmer has finally come, a bit late, to my garden, with buckets of water on the pots, and just a few mosquitoes. P.S. Random comment. I love my new rusty rooster. He fits in so well with the other boys in Henworld.
