Neglected...

Mid-Winter Phormium
Just waiting for the day temperature to get closer to ten degrees - my threshold for pleasant winter gardening. I should go outside and clean up the Stumpy Garden's interior. This garden area has been neglected for far too long!
Monday 15th June
Yesterday I did no gardening. Started the morning by watching a whole episode of Lewis on Youtube. Didn't notice it drizzling outside. Got up, made my morning coffee, changed my clothes, resolved and ready to hit the garden. Nope! Raining steadily, so lit the log-burner and went through my original web-pages for the Stumpy Garden.
Web-pages out of date!
Many pages are completely out of date. Plantings have completely changed, some things (like Gunnera) are now dominating the space, while delicates like Hostas and Candelabra Primroses have been lost. Trees have been felled, large Phormiums have been dug out. And we won't mention the roses, most of whom left the area at least ten years ago. Like the real garden out there, a virtual clean-up is long overdue.
Four and a half hours later...
I've been working well, but it's been a little cold - the temperature only reached ten degrees. Listened nervously to New Zealand's first game in the Fifa 2026 World Cup.

I kept going...
Tried to keep going, raking up gum mess for the bonfire, weeding, collecting dead Cordyline leaves, and so on. And I did keep going.
Finished the day getting into the water race and trimming the Gunnera near the koru brick courtyard. Then I lit the bonfire, which was not very happy - yesterday's rain might have had something to do with that.
I'm very happy with my day, as well as the football - New Zealand managed to draw 2-2 with Iran. Yeay! Our team is the lowest ranked out of the 48 teams in the competition, so that result is not bad at all. Now it's time for a shower, clean clothes and warm socks, and an episode of Lewis (the usual routine).
