WIlderness areas

My large country garden is allowed to have at least one wilderness area. And when I wander through it, I should be at one with nature, our spirits untamed and connecting.

 The paths are cleared.
In and Out of the Periwinkle Wilderness

A wilderness is allowed to be a bit of a 'wildermess', though a path through it is perfectly acceptable. But this should be visible, particularly for a mature gardener with dodgy knees and slightly vague vision. Such a gardener (me) cannot be tripping over stones hidden in the periwinkle, wobbling past hanging rose canes, or negotiating fallen logs which should have been collected for firewood.

Five gardening hours later...

My goodness me. What a star! I have totally cleared the path through the Periwinkle Wilderness. Just sat down and did it, kept going until I'd gone right round the loop and come out the other end. Nice work!

 Oops...
Gnomes on Rotten Stump

Gnome issues...

There is a serious issue for the two garden gnomes who live in here - their rotten tree stump is finally collapsing after more than ten years. One gnome has face-planted, while the other, still upright, looks rather amused. Oops.

A good gardener...

I was a good gardener. I raked out all my mess and dumped it by the fence line - it was too windy for a bonfire. Collected all the firewood logs and dumped them by the Stables. Picked up a bag of horse manure on each return journey and spread it on the Pond Paddock Garden. Trying to finish two things at once, hee hee. Forgot to prune the scrambling rose Souvenir de Madame Leonie Viennot. But all she needs are her dead canes removed anyway.

At the end of the day I picked some fragrant Daphne for the house and bucketed water on the new Hebes planted in the house gardens. Am feeling very happy, and very proud.

Like I said, I am a star. Didn't deal to those gnomes, though - am not sure exactly what to do. They like their wilderness, didn't want to be moved to the pond with all the other common chaps. Will have a think about some sort of compromise.
