Wind and water

Kramer's Supreme Camellia
Am having to water parts of the garden every day with my little hoses - particularly things that are newly planted. The hot nor-west wind keeps on blowing, drying everything out.
Sunday 19th October
Was out singing Palestrina and Mozart all day, zoomed home to spent two hours watering and working in the glasshouse. Started the dividing and repotting of the Cannas.
Still very little joy with my seed sowing, am now wondering if the seed raising mix was too fresh. Blame the mix?
Potted up a green Carex in my new square pot. Shifted the hoses around, then came inside and went on a train journey in rural France (thanks Youtube).
Monday 20th October
Garden news - I spent four hours without stopping, clearing a path through the Hump Garden. Divided and replanted Renga Renga along the edge. Shifted the hoses around (oops - watered my downstairs bed, forgot that the window was wide open).
Then I collected up absolutely all the mess (don't usually feel like doing that). The wind roared, so no bonfiring. Did lots of thoughtful, sensible gardening.

Minimus
Cat news...
Cat news : Minumus the cottage cat is not eating properly - she even turned down some minced up fillet steak. Speckles, my random wild cat, has actually turned up three nights in a row for his meal. Wow! Amazing...
Bald belly Fred!
Back in the house Red Fred has lost fur off his tummy and the inside of his legs. Maybe a flea allergy?
Easy not to take a cat to the vet when said cat shows no ill effects. Have flea-dosed him. Minimus, however, is another matter. I'm very worried about her health. Very worried.

Purple-Blue Iris
Later, lunchtime...
It's too windy for me today. Have been out and about shifting the little hoses, that's all. I poke them into the greenery so the wind doesn't blow all the water away.
Sat down to tidy up the wee cottage garden and dear Minimus appeared, looking very sleepy. She's drinking lots and lots of water, and no solid food. Wonder how much longer she'll be with me.
Tuesday 22nd October
Aargh! Trying to water the Hydrangeas in the Jelly Bean Border, hopelessly weak flow. Went on a hose maintenance hunt, found the little hose by the hen house gushing out water. Tried to refit the sprinkly nozzle, no joy, so I bent the hose and squashed it with a heavy stone. Not the right way to treat a garden hose, oops.
Memo to self :
The Hen House Garden, underneath towering Gum trees, needs a clean up. Made a start, dragging out fallen branches. Too noisy. Must return.
