More free plants...

 Los of work!
Trailer Load of Agapanthus

Oh. My. Goodness. This morning we had to get our trailer (which family had borrowed). Saw some mature yucca plants sitting on the side of the road, free. Grabbed three of them.

Then we stopped to pick up more Agapanthus that had been dug up for me. Filled the trailer. It's full of heavy greenery. Amazing.

Super-excited!

Arriving home I changed into my gardening shorts in a flash and started my work, super-excited to have so many free plants that were perfect for my garden. Though I'm not sure where to plant the Yuccas. They might not like it here. Summer sun = winter frost. Tomorrow I'll try to uncover them before their leaves get too squashed.

It took me over two hours to create two full barrowloads of Agapanthus pieces. Then I planted them in the end of the Hump Garden, near the driveway. It's nicely sheltered, and I don't care if they are flower-less.

Got really cold sitting down in the wet dirt. The sun was hopeless (sorry, sun) and the temperature was dropping. My knees were muddy and cold. So that was that.

So many to plant! And so much space wherein to plant them!
Pieces of Agapanthus

Monday 16th June

Woke up excited, thinking of the trailer still full of Agapanthus clumps parked in the driveway. Wow. Wonder how much I'll be able to get done today? Have to wait a couple of hours because it's a bit frosty and cold.

Hopefully not squashing the new plantings.

Chopping, dividing, planting...

Spent two hours chopping up and dividing Agapanthus (two more barrowfuls). Stayed really warm. After lunch I did planting, the colder activity, again sitting down in the wet dirt. Then took the axe to some big clumps to make yet more plants, worked for nearly three hours in total. Winnie the dog kept me company - what a treasure she is.

Now I need a bit of help - am not happy climbing into the trailer to pull the remaining clumps forwards within reach. They are too heavy for the rake. Will ask Non-Gardening Partner nicely.

Stating the obvious...

It's OK to state the obvious. Being clean and warm inside after a busy productive day outside in a cold garden is such a great feeling. Yeay. I am so proud of myself.
