New chooks

Henworld is a circular garden near the old Hen House, planted with shiny green Agapanthus and fast filling up with ornamental chook statues. They are all shapes and sizes - dare I say all breeds? And some are over fifteen years old!

Three roosters...

There are three resident roosters, flamboyant with their sparkling metallic feathers. The oldest one is getting a bit wobbly on his legs. Three roosters are quite enough, so naturally hen and chicken families are more than welcome. There's enough room in the Agapanthus for them all to peck and scratch happily together.

 Settled in well.
My Newest Chooks

Most of the chooks have been rescued from Thrift shops. Whether they're actually designed to be outdoors or not is ignored. In they go! A new chook - a new look. I deliberately place them near the path - easy to check that all's well, nobody's fallen over, no tail feathers or combs have fallen off, and so on.

Real hens...

When this garden was first created I had some real hens - beautiful Plymouth Barred Rocks. But there were serious safety issues with roaming ferrets and stoats. My ornamental chook collection is much easier to look after. No eggs as yet, but I live in hope!
