Winter sun...
Aha! There is some winter sun at last, after several days of drizzle and rain. Wonderful sun - you remembered me! Am instantly cheered-up. Please don't disappear too soon. Keep me company in the garden..
Tuesday 10th June
This morning I lurked by the log burner until 10am reading my book. Put on my shorts and went unto the garden when the sun came out. We both lasted for only two hours, but we were very focussed! I was productive, and the sun was doing its best to warm me up.

Phormium Cream Delight
I weeded a reasonable section of the Welcome Garden (sitting down in the wet soil), trimmed the Phormiums (including the beautiful variety Cream Delight) and planted maybe thirty Agapanthus divisions nearby. Then, before I got too cold, I went bravely into the water race (not for long) and started trimming the Gunnera by Willow Bridge.
Should have, didn't...
Should have done this yesterday when the water flow was right down - my gumboots (which do not leak) would have kept my legs and feet dry. But I didn't (had visitors).

My winter story...
The story of my winter so far - I go outside, get wet, muddy, and cold, then I come inside, get dry, clean, and warm again. Then I go back outside to walk the dogs and collect a barrow load of firewood.>
It was only five degrees Celsius this afternoon (I checked). And the garden didn't look very colourful. It looked really wintry. Hello! So what did I expect?
Wednesday 11th June
I am SOOOOOOOO proud of myself! Have spent three hours weeding and planting Agapanthus divisions in the Welcome Garden. Both my dogs have been keeping me company, in their own way.
Brave Pebbles chased off a little dog who was innocently going for a walk down the road. Winnie lost two tennis balls, then lay down in the freshly dug dirt and sort of squashed the new plants. She wasn't at all interesting in moving, either.
I got very muddy, and eventually rather cold, but now nearly everything is planted. Except the Astelias in pots which are going in the nearly Driveway Garden. Oops. Keep forgetting about them.

Astelias
It was so nice being outdoors - very restful, even if a bit cold. I do my best thinking when sitting in my garden (whether in summer on a seat or in winter in the wet soil). My garden is my thoughtful place.
