More sun...

Winter Calendula
Yeay! The sun is back. Not that the sun ever went anywhere. But the garden is shining and glowing with golden light, and there are interesting shadows on the lawns. Just lovely.
Saturday 14th June
This afternoon I'm planting the final pieces of Agapanthus down by the driveway, underneath lots of trees. I love their shiny green leaves, and they'll be sheltered from the frost here. I will sit down in the dirt and get vert muddy.
Then my plan is equally grubby-muddy. I need to clean up the Gunnera stalks and leaves I chopped down last week, and make Willow Bridge passable again. It's actually fun trimming them and heaving everything onto the lawn. Not so satisfying spending hours picking everything up!
Finally I might stand in the water race and trim some more. Depends on how tough I am feeling. Or how silly.
Much later...
Everything is done. I've also started to clean up the end of the Hump, to get things ready for the next batch of Agapanthus (which we pick up tomorrow). Found lots of firewood logs which had been left in the damp grassy depths.

Bamboo by the Garage
Tried to encourage Non-Gardening Partner to come and help me. He was very cagey, didn't want to get his clothes muddy. 'Put on old clothes' I said. He reckoned he didn't have any. Really? So I trundled five heavy barrow loads of logs over to the Stables on my own, huffing and puffing for maximum effect. I didn't immerse myself in the water race, though. Decided that I'd been good enough.
