Magnificent greenery...

Ajuga
Aha! I am spending this week in the depths of the Hump Garden, where the greenery is magnificent, and the paths are mysterious. In other words there are weeds higher than my knees, and the paths have disappeared. Oops!
Monday 13th October
It's raining. This is an amazingly good thing, except that I am feeling a bit rain-lazy as far as gardening goes. However I am going to put on my shorts and try my best.
Later...
First I cleaned up yesterday's mess, then I weeded further along the Hump Garden edge and into THE weediest path ever. I managed two hours before things (i.e. shorts, the back of my neck, and the rest of me) just got too wet and cold. And now, warm and clean inside, I'm enjoying listening to the rain splattering on the house roof. Yeay!
Tuesday 14th October
Spent three more hours crawling slowing into the Hump Garden, pulling and scraping as I went. A very muddy excursion. But I'm very pleased with the growth of things that are supposed to be growing, if that makes sense - particularly the bush roses (like Marie de Blois) and the pretty pink Shiraz Maple tree.

Maple Shiraz and Green Phormium
The soil is still nicely moist (as are my shorts and knees). I dug out some green Carexes which were threatening to hog the sunlight, and re-routed the path so it avoids the large green Phormium (which is even larger than last year, funny that).
Wednesday 15th October
Only had a two hour gardening window, and there was no wind, so I lit the bonfire. Dragged Miscanthus trimmings and piles of dead Phormium leaves over from the fence-line. Dug out a Hebe and a Camellia which hadn't survived being transplanted. Scooped up the Carexes which I'd chopped out of the water race bank. Burnt the lot. Needs must.
Thursday 16th October
I have more gardening time today. Yeay! The Driveway Lawn edges need trimming, as does the lawn around the dog kennels, where the flowering Lavender is covered up by grass. Lots of things to enjoy - and new colours from new spring flowering shrubs.
Three hours later...
Amazing! I've trimmed around the Driveway Lawn (well, most of it), and also cleared the disappearing path and laid new edging logs for it. No bonfire - too windy. Not a problem, am certainly not grumbling, I would NEVER grumble about the wind - or the bonfire, right? Hmm...
And I know I shouldn't grumble about the lawn mowing, but I do find the quality control in the edge details a little lax. But then that's my job, I guess. And neat border edges create the illusion of tender loving care, after all.
