Some real work...

Alice rhododendron, Gunnera, Phormiums, and a huge Gum Tree on the boundary.
Shrubs by the Water

Back to some real work in the garden. I've been spending lots of time on music - rehearsals, writing scores, and so on. Need to clear my head and stop feeling so sad. Refresh myself with some beauty from my lovely garden.

My first task is to clear around the cottage by Minimus's resting place and install a memorial seat there - a gentle place where I can keep her company in comfort.

Forget-Me-Nots...

My second task is to start seriously clearing forget-me-nots. They're seeding, so shorts will be necessary. And no socks! The sticky biddi-bids are impossible to get off socks.

Seven hours later...

And that's a lot of hours! Have been weeding around the edge of the Pond Paddock. Minimus now has a wee 'shrine' - a thick mulch of chopped up forget-me-nots all around her, a rusting metal cat statue, the smiley cat cup filled with fresh flowers, and a cane chair.

Have tested it out a few times. It provides a gentle focus and I feel much better.

Started the bonfire and burnt the old white cane chairs which were disintegrating on the cottage verandah. Have placed two sturdier ones in their place. Also got Non-Gardening Partner to give the Camellias by the glass-house a fairly robust trim.

He was inclined to argue at first (Why? Do they really need trimming? Don't you like them any more?) but I persevered. The tall lanky ones are now head-high and will bush out nicely with the extra sunlight. Most of the flowers are over.

Not sure which variety this is. Growing in the Herb Spiral Garden.

The plan...

The plan now is to have an afternoon cup of tea, then visit the veggie stall down the road to check their seedlings. Then I have one further garden task - to clear Alkanet away from the hostas behind the woodshed. I can do that.

Later...

Bought some Courgettes, some Coriander, and two more tomatoes to grow in big patio pots. What a day! Lots of bits of me are achy - fingers, hands, back. But I am much, much happier. I'm loving the flower colours everywhere. I love the cross-over time when the first roses and the last rhododendrons are in bloom. So beautiful. Like the rhododendrons handing over the colour baton to the roses - it's your turn now to amaze and delight the gardener!

Mentally I'm ready for a hot shower and bed, but unfortunately I have a singing rehearsal (Mozart's Requiem) to go to tonight. Tra la la.
