A new week...
A new week, and another good morning to my October garden. So far the wet and rainy weather has been so good for you. Hello to the first rose (the species Canary Bird) and the late cherry tree blossom, like the big pinks in the Pond Paddock.

Pond Paddock, Early morning
Good morning to the October gardener, me, who has just wandered around again with her camera. Everything is dripping wet, and I'm sure I can hear sighs of relief.
But there will be no gardening done for a few hours - for something completely different, my friend and I are off to the morning movies. Downton Abbey here we come! I am not dressing up, but I will wash and brush my hair.
Mid-afternoon...
Am back, and about to zoom into my garden, my head filled with big screen 'Downton Abbeyisms'. For me it was one of those movies where the costumes were more enjoyable than the actual story. But lots of fun. Now I will try to finish the garden clean up over the water race. There is no reason why I cannot do this before sundown.

Brick Courtyard and Path
Three hours later...
Yes there is. The brick koru courtyard needs some remedial work - I have to relay a small section of the bricks, after filling in the ground below.
This has happened before - when the bulky old tree roots underneath finally rot away, they leave huge underground holes. The bricks on what was the surface then slump down. Worst case scenario would be that they'd collapse completely when someone (probably me) stood on them. Aargh!
I weeded the courtyard, swept up the leaves, trimmed the ferns and the Agapanthus stalks - lots of little things. Then I made myself finish that annoying Miscanthus trim, planted the Lupin self-seeders near the brick path, and lit the bonfire. It gurgled away.
Am very happy. The garden is looking more beautiful each day. I am so cheered up when the greenery starts regrowing. I am glad I went to see the Downton Abbey movie - something glamorous to think about while pulling out Shepherd's Needles (weeds).
