Summer Hydrangeas

Summer days are floating by - so what day of the week is it? Yesterday we visited family. I know I did some gardening, because I went visiting in my gardening shorts, but I can't remember what I did. Oh dear me...

News Flash! Obsessed Mature Lady Gardener Forgets What She Did in the Garden Yesterday!

Where was I gardening? What was the weather doing? Was it sunny? Maybe I just cleaned up some mess? Ha ha. Not likely.

I know what I did today : I moved all the big plastic pots from my car into my glass-house, and cleared the path behind it. Put the hoses on to help the new roses below the glass-house.

Then I wandered off and potted up the Phormium by my new pond path. Sat down to divide another (in a pot by the cottage). Replanted the divisions I managed to create.

Aha! Then the light bulb inside my dreamy, dizzy head went on. News Flash! Obsessed Mature Lady Gardener Suddenly Remembers What She Did On Monday! Phew!

The glass-house!

I'd cleaned out the glass-house! Had removed three big bags full of old plastic mess (oops), pulled out all the Nicotianas growing in the soil, put the smaller ones in pots, shifted the pots of Heuchera and lupins outside, finally. Two pretty unmemorable hours, not surprising that I forgot all the details.

Wednesday 7th January

Went swimming, then enjoyed a glorious summer lunchtime gardening session finishing off stuff from around the Herb Spiral. I picked up all the mess from the path, trimmed suckers (the variegated elm being a nuisance again), and harvested all the 'early' potatoes. Non-Gardening Partner wheeled over my five remaining compost bags.

Also chopped the thuggish sprouting Kiwifruit vine by the woodshed back down to the ground, and dug out Campion and Alkanet to let the pink climbing rose have more room (and get more rain).

Loving my summer garden. Even the weeding. Hmm...
