Tossing the letter box?

Golden Smiles Roses
Day three of 2026 : took the rubbish bin out to the road for collection, noticed that our letter box had gone, post and all. Found it three paddocks down the road, post and box still attached. Somebody practicing for a new quasi-Scottish sports event : 'Tossing the Letter Box'...
Message to somebody : if you're really that bored, why not try some gardening? You could come and dead-head my roses. Gardeners are never so bored that they need to throw a letter box around.
Am going swimming, then I'm off to scout out the new route of the pond path. Wish me luck.
Much later...
Yeay! Sorted out the route, which has a nice wiggle to it. Started clearing the ground and laying edge stones. Plop! My tame brown blackbird arrived to 'help'. Took out five barrow loads. Not one, not two, not three, not four, but FIVE.
Liberated a Phormium from a tall pot - divided it up, replanted it. Cleared the remaining path of Renga Renga (divided and replanted them too). There are just three seedling Pittosporums in the way for Non-Gardening Partner to chainsaw down.

Gnomes by the Pond Path
Also got somewhere (exactly where doesn't matter) with my Christmas jigsaw. After the evening meal I watched a groovy T20 cricket match on TV, then plodded happily over to the cottage and waited (sort of) for my stray cats. Only Foxie came, crunching his cat biscuits in the dark - a super scaredy cat. Speckles didn't bother. Humph.
Sunday 4th January
Am back from visiting a friend who is downsizing - my car is crammed full of large plastic pots for growing things in. And saucers for the underneaths, so to speak. And a large tub full of bulbs which may be Dutch irises.

Agapanthus Do Well Here
So what am I going to do today in the garden? Aha! Something completely different. Weed the Welcome Garden, divide the new Agapanthus clumps into pieces, and plant in the gaps created.
Three hours later...
All done, while listening to the Ashes on my ricket radio. One slight issue - bitten by something (a spider?) on my thigh. Wearing shorts, you see, and sitting in the mess. Hope I didn't squash him/her.

The Letter Box is Back
NGP dug in a new post and fixed the letterbox to it. Some others down our road were trashed, too. Boredom can be rather unsociable.
