Hello daffodils...
Welcome Home!
Thought for Friday : What a great idea it was to buy in new mixed daffodils and plant them all in big pots around the house. Yeay!
I see them each morning, I say hello to them, and they welcome me home when I've been away. They don't all flower at once, and this I rather like. Easy to remove the earlier blooms.
Another thought for Friday : Finish something! Am off to do some serious finishing.
Three hours later...
Took my cup of coffee outside to sit on the dirt path below the glass-house and enjoy the garden. The enjoyment was short-lived - my coffee went cold almost immediately. Then I decided to remove the big Carex I was sitting next to. No problem for tough old me and my lady spade. Oh really?
Dug away for the next half an hour, but it wouldn't budge. Was close to tears - sad because I just wasn't strong enough. Then along came Non-Gardening Partner who helped me. Took him ten minutes. Yeay! My hero!
Lopper Issues
My next issue was that I couldn't find my loppers - I'd left them somewhere silly. Wandered around the paths and lawns, spirits drooping fast. - no luck. Naturally all I felt like doing was lopping branches off. So sad turned to sulky, and there's no worse feeling. A spring garden is a very beautiful place, and there's no room in it for a sulky gardener. Sulking is such a waste of energy.
White Trilliums
Aha! I sorted myself out. I just kept going, slowly clearing the path underneath the glass-house. I trimmed the silver Astelia by the glass-house door, and dug out some ivy (where did that come from?) which was climbing up the Escallonia. It was drizzling by now and I was getting cold and wet. Then I found another big Carex which had to be removed. Oh joy!
Not a failure after all!
But this time I managed to dig underneath it and was able (eventually) to pull it out. Yeay! I am not a failure after all. I knew that! Came inside to put on dry clothes, soak my new possum socks (which are not allowed near the washing machine), and have a cup of tea. Felt better. And I've just looked at today's photographs. Feel even better.
