Never boring...

Red Trilliums
September is a most beautiful month, full of beautiful sights (blossom, flowers, fresh green leaves) and interesting sounds, with the noisy wild pheasants now venturing quite close to the house.
And September's weather is never boring. Often there's wind. Some days it's twenty degrees Celsius, some days it's ten or below.
Little treasures...
Each day there's something new to enjoy. Have to remember to keep checking, and look for the little treasures, hiding underneath the freshy-leafed deciduous trees.
Saturday 26th September
Ha! Have just found my lost loppers. I am so happy! Now I can do some serious pruning of the Camellias in the Wattle Woods. That's my first task for this afternoon. Back not so soon.
Mid-afternoon...
The Camellias are reshaped for the better, but that task quickly became over-complicated. I decided to cut off all the buds and blooms for the house vases (I'll be lucky if they last a day before falling off their stems). That sweet, small detail took ages.

Still Flowering
After a quick cup of tea I went back into Middle garden to do some more clearing. Cut out more Carexes, chopped out some sad Phormiums and Astelias, raked up lots of dry mess to help the Camellia branches on the bonfire. Even pruned the Hypericum (which doesn't really like it in here and rarely flowers).

Mt Fuji Flowering Cherry
Then I decided I would be a good gardener and burn everything. And I did just that - including my forty dollar pair of secateurs. Aargh! They lasted maybe four weeks. I am so silly. Ten dollars per week - good value?
Sunday 27th September
And what was I saying (second paragraph on this page) about the September weather? So yesterday it was actually twenty degrees Celsius, beautifully calm and sunny. Today it's cold, rainy, and six degrees. I am layered up in merino and my woolly shawl. I am not going gardening.
