Huge plans...

 Hmm...
Frost Damaged Camellias

Blast. It's raining. I had huge plans to be in the garden all day. Instead, have been cleaning out embarrassingly messy kitchen cupboards. Am not sulking, though. Gardeners do not sulk at gentle, honest rain.

Rule of Winter Gardening :

Be away from home all day and it will be balmy and beautiful. Be available all day for gardening and it will rain.

Rule of Camellias :

Don't believe what your label tells you, and burst into flower too early. The morning frosts will get you and your flowers will turn brown. Not the best look in a winter garden.

Kept checking outside - wow! Real rain. As opposed to fake rain? Hee hee...

Friday 1st August

The garden is muddy and damp. But finally the rain has stopped. It is soooooo easy to visualise all the Lamium dug out, when one is snug in bed thinking about ones garden.

With lots of visiting birds feasting.
Winter Colour - Crabapples

Now the reality - when the going gets tough the tough put on their gardening shorts and go gardening.

 And buds.

Two hours later...

I did it! Well, I did it for two hours. Tried to keep dry and mud-free, but couldn't. Hands got too cold eventually. I have loads of horse manure to spread around as soon as the garden is ready for it.

What to plant?

Had fun thinking about planting the Yuccas in here, maybe buying in some roses to sprawl along the fence, and maybe some fat, blobby Camellias. Maybe not the Yuccas - don't think it will be sunny enough.

Saturday 2nd August

Back out I went. Oh boy. It's Lamium week! Again got very muddy and cold, with another two hours of digging and pulling. I have very little else to talk about. A bit boring, actually.

Welcome, August...

And before I forget, I'd like to welcome the month of August to my garden. Please be kind.
