Mentally prepared...
Am prepared mentally for some cold, blustery, rainy days. Non-gardening days, for sure. Southerly rain fell all last night, which is great news for all my new Camellia plantings. Watered by nature is the best way.

My Darkest Hellebore
So the non-gardening me is snug inside, drinking cups of tea, listening to Brahms's piano concerto (which I'll never be able to play, though I've got the music on my Ipad), thinking about my garden and how much I love the new improvements.

Crab-Apples for the Birds
I've been watching the wee birdies feast on their crab-apples and salad bananas (much healthier than the lard balls I used to provide). Have walked the dogs (so glad I bought myself a new Goretex jacket) and brought in more firewood.

Plantation Pink Camellias
Aha! Nothing like a bit of wind chill to wake me up. Wish the remnants of my head cold (and associated cough) would go away. Found more Camellias in flower, and more lone daffodils. Lovely to see splashes of strong colour in the midst of the greens and browns. Also lovely to see all the Hellebores flowering. That is, when one tickles their chins so they lift up their heads!
Wednesday 20th August
Another indoorsy day, though I did go out to a plant nursery to spend some vouchers. Ended up buying a Hebe, a red Phormium, and two pinky-red Azaleas. Must have been thinking of the interior of the Jelly Bean Border. Spent a lot of time practicing my piano music - Faure and Schubert - for my chamber group.
Thursday 2st August
Crikey! It's still drizzling, and a bit too cold for me to go outside. No gardening, sorry. Sorry, dogs, for being a boring person.

Winnie the Dog
But I have made great head-plans to spread the remaining horse manure over the Septic Tank Garden, then cover everything with leaves and mulch. Sooooo easily done in the mind, hee hee. Maybe tomorrow in the flesh?
Aargh! More Agapanthus!
While I remember : More free Agapanthus clumps have become available - we are picking them up this weekend. Aargh! Now I need to rekindle my Agapanthus planting mood (having moved on to Camellias).
