My new hand tools

 Hope nothing gets lost.
My New Tools Bag

I MUST NOT LOSE MY NEW HAND TOOLS. I will keep them in a specially designated bag.

Not in a bucket, out of which they get tipped when I need to use it. Not in the wheelbarrow, where they get caught up with the bonfire mess and heaved onto the fire.

The bag cannot be used for anything else except tool storage. It can hang on the wheelbarrow handle, or on the branch of a tree. Here is a photograph of the bag I have chosen.

Friday 29th August

Yeay! I finished what I started yesterday (that recurring gardening theme). I split up the miniature Agapanthus into sensible (not lazy) pieces, replanted them around the edge of the Septic Tank Garden.

I also replanted Flower Carpet roses that I'd dug out of the back of the Herb Spiral (they were never happy here). I watered everything. AM hopeful that the new Camellias are alive, and the new Hebes are looking great!

Then - oh my goodness. Now for something a little different. I ventured (adventured?) into the Jelly Bean Border, behind the Liquid Amber tree. The idea was to scoop out mess, load the wheelbarrow a few times, take it all to the bonfire. Easy. A light afternoon's work, right?

 Such pretty foliage.
New Hebes by the House

I crawled around resolutely, heaving out fallen tree branches and super thick pieces of gum bark. Eek! Some Periwinkle had escaped into this garden. Not allowed! Dug it carefully out. Sat in the dirt and trimmed four Hydrangeas to near ground level. Poor things!

Not lost...

 They have lasted one day!
My New Gardening Tools

Raked out gum tree leaves which had been there since ancient times. Wobbled back and forth to the barrow with armfuls of mess, filled it eight times. Was it really eight? I lost count. But I didn't lose my new hand tools! The bag is a great idea.

Sagging...

By now the gardening spirit was definitely sagging. So I sat on the lawn sipping water and watching the bonfire flames, to declutter the gardening mind and prepare it for some piano practice. But the gardening fingers were a bit achy, and all the gardening body wanted to do was to have a shower and go straight to bed. Sorry, Dvorak.

Regarding The Jelly Bean Border...

Information for self, so self doesn't get despondent : Six years ago in 2019 I did a big clean up in the Jelly Bean Border. Followed this up in 2020 with a little weeding, nothing too major. Since then - nothing! Five years of being ignored, just a few random Azaleas planted therein, gardener basically AWOL.
