Mathematics...

Have been doing some Garden Mathematics - this time measuring what Non-Gardening Partner does versus what I do. The difference is so unfair. He is so fast - I am soooo slow.

 Mowed!
The Frisbee Lawn

First thing this morning I had coffee on the bench overlooking the Frisbee Lawn. Aa! The tractor-mower had cut the grass late yesterday. But here's what doesn't fit. I reckon it took NGP about fifteen minutes. And me? I've just spent five hours trimming the edges and raking up loose grass. And only two thirds of the Frisbee Border edge is done.

Sits and steers...

So NGP just sits on a comfy tractor seat and steers. I have to get down in the dirt, scrape up weeds, stand up, rake stuff, wheel the barrow, dump the mess, wheel the barrow back, get down again...

To register my dismay at the Maths (and give my achy fingers a break) I've come inside to organise the evening meal, and contemplate the unfairness of life, hee hee..

 Good work!
Barrowful of Weeds

Next morning...

Oh dear. Five hours gardening takes its toll. Am very stiff and slow. Going for a walk to take some photographs, then off swimming to loosen up. It might be a sign - maybe four gardening hours maximum per day?

Later, lunchtime...

Called into the garden centre after swimming and bought some new edging shears (have - ahem - mislaid my others). Got out of my car, immediately saw the old ones propped up by a tree. Hopeless, me!

Super sharp shears...

Anyway, have collected up Phormium leaves for the bin, and tried out the new shears on the house lawn edges. They are super sharp. Moving better, too - swimming is a great foil for gardening, exercise-wise.
