Tiring?

OK. A rhetorical question. What's so tiring about sitting down in the garden and weeding? Is sitting down in a chair tiring? No. So what's the difference?

So far so good today (apart from losing my brand new scraper). Getting my garden (and my head) sorted out. Have spent two hours in the middle of the Stables Garden pulling out grass seedlings. Told myself over and over - 'sitting is not tiring'.

Thursday 22nd October, later...

Aha! Found my hand scraper, sat down and weeded another border edge, thought about my garden, and smiled. Planted the two new pots of Ligularias, pricked out some more seedlings in the glass-house, organised a pot of Pelargonium cuttings. Put the hoses on, and did some bucket watering. Have a new rule - only work for four hours. So I stopped.

 All flowery.

Friday 23rd October

Today I launched my new stylish boho look on some unsuspecting friends. Lots of fun! They were quite surprised. Then I zoomed home, changed, and did three hours weeding along the Allotment Garden. Reasonably annoying work - would bend over to loosen a grass clump, then stand up and pull gently with both hands. Collected two barrowfuls.

Unearthing roman mosaics...

Am back in my boho jeans, apres-gardening, about to sit down and eat. My latest Youtube craze is to watch Time Team, a British archaeological digging programme. In my garden, scraping away with my hand digger, I pretend I am unearthing a roman mosaic floor.

Garden thoughts...

I write a lot about what I do in the garden, rather than what I see. Must fix this. Didn't see any roman mosaic floors today, but lots of little blue Alkanet flowers and buzzing honey bees.

Dog news...

Winnie's therapy vet is alarmed by her dog-decline in mobility. Hmm...

 Darling dog...
