Get back in the moment
Yeay! Great overnight rain, 16mm, perfect for the garden. I lay in bed in the cottage listening to the water splattering on the roof and smiled. Then Speckles turned up, soaked to the skin, so I got up and gave him a decent meal. I'm always happy when Speckles comes. Have spent four years feeding a stray cat who still hisses at me! What a wonderful person I am.

Cherry Blossom
This morning I'm bound to get wet and muddy in the garden, so I have a change of clothes all laid out ready. I'm off to sow my seeds first. About time! Back soon.
Three hours later...
Got in a bit of a grump. So I had a cup of coffee on the patio, went to do the sudoku on the local paper, could only fill in one number. Hopeless. Didn't feel like cleaning up my mess, or taking the Miscanthus trimmings to the bonfire, or actually wheelbarrowing anything. But it's a beautiful day, the sun is out, and there's no wind. There are three more hours left in which to honour my obligations to my garden and to myself.
Instructions to self : just do it. Stop thinking, stop analysing. Get back in the moment, fix up and finish things. Enjoy the wheelbarrow plodding. Look around at all the pretty things, let the beauty of the blossom be an inspiration. Light the bonfire, then reward self with a hair-wash and clean clothes. Easy. And forget that sudoku. The fact that there is a unique end solution does not mean making 50-50 calls on numbers en route and then having to backtrack.

Periwinkle Flowers
Three more hours later...
I sorted myself out. Finished weeding the Hump Garden path, scooped up all the mess and dumped it. One barrow load of mulch, three barrow loads of horse manure went on the garden. Did some more weeding in the middle of the Hump Garden, runed more roses. Then I took the Miscanthus trimmings to the bonfire and burnt them.
Happy again...
Now my hair is clean, and I'm very happy, waiting for fish and chips and Kombucha. I didn't ask for gardening help, I just did it all myself. Have ditched the sudoku puzzle. Non-Gardening Partner is being a nice person by taking me to my choir rehearsal tonight.
Very late Sunday night...
Aargh! My weekend has been totally taken over by singing things. Three different performances today, but the very last one (with my Blues Band) was absolutely groovy. My fingers worked. I remembered to listen to my drummer. There were some precious moments of silence (important in the Blues). I loved the music! Yeay for the blues!
