Peaceful...

Minimus's Memorial
It's early morning, and I'm ready, dressed in my gardening shirt and shorts. I've already sat with Minimus (RIP) to have breakfast. It's so peaceful in the garden by her rusty cat statue. She and I are both at peace now.
I've also taken more photographs - am loving all the garden colours. And not just the roses. November is a very rose-intensive month in my garden, but there are lots of other pretty flowers. And, of course, fresh leaves on the trees and shrubs.
But... I must not get sidetracked by my latest e-book (am reading and enjoying Lesley Thomson's The Detective's Daughter novels). Save it as a reward for the end of the day. When one gives oneself good advice, one should take it, right? Right.
Have I got time for a quick peep at the photographs? Yes, ten minutes, no more.
Four gardening hours later...
Time for coffee, a snack of fresh strawberries (not my own), and a bit of gentle journalling.
Here's what I've done. First thing (about 8:30am) I lit the bonfire and burnt all the mess from behind the big gum. Added a couple of barrow loads from the fence-line. Lucky timing - by lunchtime the wind was roaring.
Watered the veggie garden. Dragged the last pots of Cannas out of the glass-house, placed them on the pond decking. Sat down and chopped up forget-me-nots. I reckon I could do this for a week and still not be finished. Kept going until my hands felt too achy.

The Septic Tank Garden in Late Spring
Now I am going back outside to work on the garden behind the big gum. Please can I finish this. Please. It will make me soooooo happy. P.S. I cannot rake up the mess, because the bonfire is out of bounds (too windy).
Later...
Dug out the huge Euphorbias, found stones to define the garden's edge, made a huge pile of mess for tomorrow's bonfire. It's full of dry grasses, gum leaves, and bark. Then washed face and feet (minimalist) and zoomed off to my Chamber Music rehearsal. Dvorak - you rock! Came home to a roast chicken and veggies (oven beeping proudly, just finished cooking). Yum! What a wonderful day.
