List Number Two...
Time for a list, the second one I've written for August in the garden. I totally ignored the first one, so let's hope this one has a better outcome!
Nonie Haydon Camellias
It is an optimistic list, containing small Hump Garden details - easily forgotten, but equally easily implemented :
- Continue scraping weeds off path and replacing log edges.
- Remove scruffy grasses and trim remaining Periwinkle.
- Plant striped Phormium in gap below path.
- Dig out NZ Cortaderia.
- Trim second Miscanthus zebrinus.
Do all the above, then congratulate self and have a break for early lunch. Should take about three hours. Optimist!

Much later...
The wind arrived. It got windier, then noisier, then scarier, Small branches started to crash down in the distance. Self preservation was more important than finishing a list. Fair enough?
Did the first three items. The Phormium (a clutch of divisions from the Yellow Wave Phormium by the water race, in a pot) looks great.
Naughty!
Later in the afternoon the wind calmed down. Went back outside, scratched around weeding and pruning some more, left all my mess behind. Should have cleaned it up. Naughty.
Monday 24th August
Worked for four hours. Trimmed the second large Miscanthus grass. Took the Cordateria to pieces - it wasn't able to be saved or divided. Also dug out a dead rugosa rose, oops. Shifted and replanted some Lupin clumps, and started tidying up a huge species green Phormium. And so I am moving slowly but surely through the Hump Garden, clearing, weeding, and doing what needs to be done.

Even managed to burn everything before the wind arrived. Yeay! Sensible and successful.
