Recovery update - and snow!
Dental surgery recovery update : I decided I needed to be more sensible. Have spent time over the last few days just lazing around, reaing, going to bed a bit to snooze in the daytimes, taking my apres-surgery pills, watching Poirot on Youtube. Charging around madly in my garden for hours seemed to be a little silly.

Did a couple of gentle gardening sessions, but only two hours each. First I cleared the house garden by the driveway - must be ages since I did this. Old Anemanthele grasses, lots of fallen tree mess and leaves. Tried not to disturb the Japanese Anemones or the Phlox.

The next day I worked my way around to the house - trimming Calamagrostis grasses, doing a bit of rose pruning, trimming the Paris daisy bushes. Am a hopelessly reactive pruner. Forget to do anything until the shrubs are too big. And I have been known to leave my tools lying around outside to go blunt.

But slightly good news for world peace - my world peace rose (Golden Tribute) has one brave little stem with one brave little bloom. It's still alive, flowering rather late in the season. Hmm...
Tuesday 4th August
Today a nasty cold snap is forecast, with snow down to 100 meters, which is the elevation at which I live and garden. I do not want snow, or hail, or anything remotely white. Grey is just fine.
Snowing!
Blast! Just after I wrote that, fluffy little white splodges started dropping from the sky. Snow is still 'flurrying'. I am off to take the dogs for a walk and get some more firewood. Aha! I will wear my new snow boots.
