Sneaky Spring!

Spring!
Sneaky spring! It just takes a few warmer days and nights to make me open my eyes a bit wider - and off I go, happily looking for signs of spring (rather than weeds). Yeay!
The first white prunus blossom, more yellow daffodils, yet more beautiful Camellias, daphne, the first purple Honesty flowering, pale blue forget-me-nots. President Roosevelt's cherry red and white flowers.
p>And how beautiful are the evergreens - the Phormiums, the green New Zealand shrubs and trees. The other garden colours would be nothing without green. But one has to balance the beauty of spring flowers with the nuisance of spring weeds. Back to reality, I guess. Regarding the weeds : wouldn't it be wonderful if I could finish weeding the Hump Garden today? I am going to try my best.
Next Day...
Of course I couldn't finish - had to stop after three hours and go to a singing rehearsal. And just when I got home it started to rain. But I made progress, collecting and dumping three barrow loads.
Weeds renamed...
Interesting. The weeds I used to call 'October weeds' have yet another name change. In 2022 they became 'September weeds'. Now, in 2026, they are renamed 'August weeds'. Climate change? Eek! I think their common name is Shepherd's Needles.

Thursday 27th August
It's still raining. No gardening for me - I am going swimming, then meeting a friend for coffee.
Friday 28th August
Today I had a small gardening window (nearly two hours), and I used it well. Reached the last path into the Hump Garden, scraping weeds from path and garden. Memo to self : plant excess dahlias in here.
Saturday 29th August
Not much gardening possible today - first we went swimming, then I went to watch my friend's ballet performance. Came home and launched self into the Hump Garden, but the day was fast cooling down. Scraped more weeds up, lost focus (and my secateurs, oops).
